Restorative Yoga
Introducing Restorative Yoga: A Mind-Body Approach to Self-Care
“The work of paying compassionate attention is, in a sense, learning to steward for ourselves what God already believes about us—that we’re valuable and loved.” ― Aundi Kolber, Try Softer
We are excited to offer a new restorative mind-body practice, uniquely designed to integrate trauma-informed care with the evidenced based research of mindfulness and meditation— from a Christian perspective.
-
Restorative yoga is a gentle, calming, mind-body practice that focuses on relaxation, deep breathing, and intentional movement. This practice is particularly effective for regulating the central nervous system, promoting emotional balance, and fostering attention on self-care that develops an increased personal peace.
-
With the increased research focus of religious & spiritual practices, it is becoming widely accepted that Christian practices such as meditation, prayer, self-compassion, and “setting our minds on things above” (mindfulness), are God-given tools to aid a person in healing emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
Yoga has traditionally borrowed practices of meditation and mindfulness, utilizing these tools also. By using yoga techniques of body movement and Christian practices, restorative yoga gives a unique opportunity to reflect on God’s peace, love, and presence in your life. Through Scripture-based reflections and prayerful meditation, participants are encouraged to draw closer to God while finding physical and emotional restoration.
All interested participants are welcome and encouraged to attend, regardless of religious affiliation or background.
