Frequently asked questions.

How do I schedule?

Please fill out the appointment request form under the “request appointment” page.

Do you take my insurance?

We take most Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO plans. If you work for the state of Tennessee and have Optum mental health care benefits, we can file claims for you.

We are out-of-network for Bluecare/Tenncare and Medicare. All other insurances are out of network.

Do you provide telehealth sessions?

Yes, telehealth services are available. For current clients using our telehealth service, please click on this link for our telehealth Helpful Tips, and this link to access telehealth Portal.

Do you have counseling for children?

Yes, Wellsprings does have a therapeutic play room where counselors provide counseling services for children ages 4-11.

Do you do marital/couples counseling?

Yes. For Martial/Couples counseling, it is important that both individuals come to the first session. If both cannot come, please reschedule until both can attend.

How do I cancel an appointment?

Counselors require 24 hour advanced notice for any cancellations. Counselors do charge full hourly rate if that notification is not given. To cancel an appointment, please call our front desk at 423-587-9339 or you may utilize your Therapynotes portal account to request a cancellation. For after hours or weekend calls, our answering machine provides a date and time to allow the 24 hour notification.

How long will I wait before I am scheduled for my first appointment?

We are continuously checking our “appointment request forms” throughout the day. Our desire at Wellsprings is to provide timely and consistent counseling services to our clients. We understand there may be times where clients need to get on the schedule with a counselor as quickly as possible, we try to get clients scheduled as soon our counselors schedule allows.

For example, a client who has just lost their spouse may see their counselor every Monday at 5 pm. Therefore, Monday at 5 pm will not be available again for several months with that specific counselor. If you request a specific counselor or a specific time, this may take several months before that time is available.

However, if you are flexible, cancellations occur each week, creating opportunities for you to be scheduled. Afternoon and evening appointments are very popular, fill quickly, and require a waiting list most of the time.

How do I pay for a session?

We accept cash, check, and credit card payments. Payment for the session is due at the time of service (view fee schedule). If a client attends more than two sessions without making a payment, we request the account is paid before rescheduling. We accept Master Card, Visa, and American Express.

What if I cannot afford to pay the full fee for a licensed counselor?

We have several options to help. Our front desk will be glad to explain the different available fee options for Master's Level Therapist (non-licensed, supervised) or Student Intern (supervised).

Can Wellspring help with insurance questions?

We do have an insurance coordinator who will support clients when dealing with insurance questions. Each insurance company will have information on individual benefits, documentation needed, co- insurance, and out of network “allowable” reimbursement. These questions and the paperwork will be managed by the insurance coordinator and not the therapist.

Do you have a “sliding scale” to help with payments?

Our therapists’ fees are based on the experience and training of the individual counselor. Each therapist has a set fee for their 50 or 80 minute session. Wellsprings employs varying levels of therapists to provide for higher and lower rates of pay. Please refer to the fee schedule (click here). Each therapist lists their training level in their personal bio so that clients can determine fees before scheduling.
